The new immersive division of Fox, FoxNext, has come forward with WithIn, the biggest VR study on creating an enhanced and amazing experience for virtual reality viewers. Their first VR project is an immersive experience based on the 20th Century Fox science fiction film “Planet of the Apes.”
21st Century Fox is the principal investor of WithIn. In this partnership, the first VR project will be produced and directed by the CEO and founder of Within, Chris Milk. According to the creative team on this project, they will use AI technology to build a more immersive and social shared experience for their viewers that will be available on both AR and VR platforms through the WithIn app.
WithIn and FoxNext are also in partnership with Annapurna Picture to create a VR Movie called “I Remember You.” Chris Milk will direct and produce this film while working with Spike Jonze, an Oscar-winning director, and the founder of Annapurna Pictures, Megan Ellison. Once the movie is completed, it will be available on the WithIn app.
This is not the first time that Annapurna Pictures and WithIn have worked together. They also created the amazing VR experience “Evolution of Verse.” Annapurna has also produced “The Click Effect”, and their next film, “Life of Us”, is ready to premiere at Sundance. Another film called “The Protectors” by Kathryn Bigelow is also set to release this year on the WithIn App.
As Chris Milk has experience with the immersive technology, it is expected that this new project will attract attention from a wide variety of audiences. Chris has become one of the major creative leaders in the VR industry.
FoxNext president Salil Mehta says, “Virtual reality is the trend changing the world of entertainment and with Planet of the Apes, it will create an unforgettable filmmaking experience that will make a great impact on the fans all around the world.”
We are hoping that this partnership of a major filmmaking company and a great VR studio will create an experience that will bring a revolution in the filmmaking industry.
